Our second client in Carhaix-Plouguer
At 1 place de la Gare, A la coiffe welcomes women, men and children into a vintage hair salon and barbershop. Curly and textured hair is a particular specialty, alongside classic cuts, colour work and more expressive styles.
A la coiffe is Benicode’s second client in Carhaix-Plouguer. Following our first local collaboration with ART ELEC, this project brought another of the town’s businesses online with a different brief: show the variety of a visual craft and help visitors picture themselves at the salon.
We replaced the previous website with a portfolio built around genuine photographs of the salon and its work. Visitors can discover a style, understand the services and call to discuss what they have in mind.
Bringing the salon’s atmosphere online
We explored four design directions. The client selected the Gallery House composition with a vintage palette, which we refined through subsequent feedback.
The black header remains accessible while browsing. The opening section combines a black background, ivory headings and a collage of real salon and haircut photographs. Ivory sections, gold accents and maroon headings carry the identity through the rest of the page. A white and gold wordmark, with Carhaix-Plouguer beneath it, connects the design to the physical salon.

Making the range of services easy to explore
The services section covers cuts for all ages, curly and textured hair, balayage, AirTouch and gloss colour. Beard care, traditional shaving and hair tattoos sit alongside men’s facial treatments and the Hair Spa experience.
The gallery reflects that range. Visitors can filter work by audience or style directly on the homepage. Dedicated pages continue the journey through men’s, women’s, children’s, modern and old-school collections.
Photographs open in an image viewer with keyboard navigation, Escape to close and focus returned to the original link. Images and columns adapt to the available space on mobile.
Saving ideas for a future visit
The Inspirations page offers another way into the work. Visitors select an audience and style, then save favourites to “Mes idées”. Their selection stays on their own device without an account.

A personal selection to help prepare a conversation with the salon.
The catalogue is a starting point. The website also invites customers to bring their own reference photographs. The purpose is to help someone explain an idea, then discuss how it could suit their hair and everyday routine with the stylist.
Keeping contact straightforward
Call buttons remain part of the browsing journey. The address, opening hours and directions appear together near the end of the homepage, with links to the salon’s social profiles. A short FAQ answers common questions before a visit.
Appointments are arranged by phone. The project does not include an online booking system. Reviews displayed on the website describe customers’ experiences at the salon.
Building a lasting foundation
We developed the website with Astro and TypeScript and published it on Cloudflare at alacoiffe.fr. Photographs use responsive WebP images. Images further down the page load as needed, and fonts are hosted with the website.
Page metadata, canonical URLs, a sitemap and structured data describing the hair salon support the launch. Technical checks were accompanied by desktop and mobile verification.
The delivered result brings the salon’s identity, services and previous work together, with tools for browsing styles and preparing a visit. It gives A la coiffe’s work the space to speak for itself while keeping a phone call easy to reach.
